Kano Central Senatorial District senator Rufai Hanga gave his supporters five thousand white cloth pieces and clay pots.
According to reports, the contribution is meant to aid with loved ones’ funeral arrangements in response to residents’ repeated pleas for assistance with funeral arrangements.
One of Hanga’s social media assistants, Dawuud Auwal, reportedly shared the contributions on Facebook, according to Premium Times.
Auwal reportedly wrote, “We are used to these frequent requests from people soliciting money to buy white cloths and clay pots. Some have requested vehicles for transporting the dead.”
The New Nigeria Peoples Party senator who has been representing Kano Central since 2023 made this gesture in observance of the traditional Muslim burial rituals used in the North.
