Kano Gov, Yusuf Stops Salaries Of 10,000 Workers Employed By Ganduje

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has taken a decisive step by instructing the State’s Accountant General to halt the salaries of 10,800 workers who were employed by his predecessor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The move comes after the new administration accused Ganduje of engaging in unlawful employment practices, specifically hiring over 10,000 workers just before leaving office.

During a press briefing in Kano on Monday, the Accountant General, Abdulkadir Abdusalam, made the governor’s directive known. Abdusalam revealed that the governor has mandated his office to remove the affected workers from the state’s payroll.

Additionally, an investigation will be carried out to ascertain the authenticity of their employment and the procedures followed, with the aim of eliminating any illegitimate recruitments.

Regarding the local government workers in the state, Abdusalam clarified that those who were converted to state workers by the previous administration will continue to receive their salaries. However, these payments will be based on the respective local government levels.

Hpe also instructed them to continue working in their new positions within the state’s Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) until the investigation is concluded.
