Jonathan, Osinbajo, Sultan Emerge Africa’s Peace Icons

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, and Rwandan President Paul Kagame have been honored as peace icons in Africa by the international peace-focused organization, Peace Ambassador Agency Worldwide.

The list also includes Kenyan President William Ruto, African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina, United Bank of Africa Group Chairman Tony Elumelu, Geregu Power PLC Chairman Femi Otedola, President of LoveWorld Incorporated Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, and the Sultan of Sokoto Mohammadu Abubakar, among others.

This recognition was announced during a press conference in Abuja where 100 individuals were unveiled as the “100 Most Notable Peace Icons In Africa.” Ambassador Kingsley Amafibe, the Project Director of the group, explained that these peace icons are being acknowledged for their consistent efforts in promoting peace and harmony across the continent.

Amafibe noted that the honorees have worked diligently to resolve conflicts, strengthen social bonds, and bridge gaps within Africa’s diverse communities.

“This esteemed group of 100 Most Notable Peace Icons in Africa represents a diverse spectrum of leaders, economists, financial experts, sports personalities, religious figures, entrepreneurs in the entertainment industry, traditional leaders, activists, thinkers, and creators who have overcome challenges and surpassed boundaries to leave indelible legacies,” Amafibe commented.

By sharing their stories, the organization aims to amplify the positive impact of their endeavors and cultivate a collective commitment to fostering a more serene and prosperous Africa.

Furthermore, Amafibe revealed plans for the organization to grant scholarships to 20,000 underprivileged students across the continent. He emphasized that the support and contributions of these peace icons will play a crucial role in achieving the group’s goals and objectives.

“This scholarship program is designed to empower and nurture the next generation of African leaders, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to drive the growth and stability of their respective nations,” Amafibe stated.

Recognizing the youth as catalysts for transformation, the organization is resolute in its dedication to empowering them through comprehensive training and skill enhancement initiatives. These programs encompass a wide range of fields, from entrepreneurship to technology, enabling young people to drive innovation and positive change.

Additionally, the organization acknowledges the significance of access to clean water in rural communities.

To address this vital need, they are launching the “CleanAqua4All” Pipe Borne Water Project, an initiative aimed at ensuring clean and safe drinking water for underserved rural areas.
