Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva has offered a rare glimpse into her decades-long marriage to industry icon Olu Jacobs, revealing one of the advantages of being married to an older man.
The 64-year-old actress made the disclosure during her recent appearance on TVC’s Your View, where she reflected on their love story and union.
Reports indicate that Joke Silva married Olu Jacobs in 1985, despite a 20-year age gap. Speaking about how their relationship began, she admitted it wasn’t exactly love at first sight for her.
“Yes we met on stage, and when we met on a movie set, everybody knew it was the great Olu Jacob who was coming, except me. When he came, we got on very well and it was after we started dating that I discovered his age because he looked so good. For him, it was love at first sight but for me, it wasn’t. These older men allow you to get away with a lot of things.”
Olu Jacobs was 44 at the time of their marriage, while Joke Silva was 24. Their union, which has lasted nearly four decades, is blessed with two children and remains one of Nollywood’s most cherished love stories.
