JAMB Sets 140 As Cut-off Mark For University Admissions In 2022/23 Academic Year

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that a minimum score of 140 and above has been set as the cut-off mark for admissions into universities in Nigeria for the 2022/23 academic session.

This decision was revealed by the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, during a presentation at the 2023 Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions held in Abuja on Saturday.

According to Prof. Oloyede, a score of 100 has been approved as the cut-off mark for admissions into Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

However, he emphasized that these scores represent the minimum requirements, and it is not mandatory for institutions to adhere to them.

The announcement by JAMB regarding the cut-off marks is expected to provide clarity to prospective students and institutions regarding the minimum scores needed for admission into various tertiary institutions.

It is important to note that Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of education retain the autonomy to set their own admission criteria and may consider factors beyond the minimum cut-off marks in their selection process.
