Operatives from the Obowo Divisional Headquarters in Imo state have taken into custody Mr. Ibe Obasi, 38, the owner of a guest house, for allegedly beating a young man named Ebuka Udemba, 25, to death.
It was learned that Udemba is an indigenous of Umuokpa in the Obowo Local Government Area.
According to initial investigation, the victim was accused of taking a client’s phone. Udemba was reportedly tortured and imprisoned within the generator room of the aforementioned guest home, where he suffocated to death, by the suspect and two other people who are still at large.
The police immediately arrested the Obasi and transferred him to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Owerri for consolidation of the ongoing investigation.
The spokesperson of the command, ASP Henry Okoye, while confirming the incident said Obasi has provided useful information that will assist the determined operatives in arresting all the suspects in connection to the case. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
