Burna Boy, a Grammy Award-winning superstar musician, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, has proclaimed himself the godfather of the Nigerian music industry.
He made the assertion in the TitoM and Yuppe remix of the widely popular South African song “Tshwala Bam,” which was made available last week.
“As long as Naija la wa…Them they call me the Godfather,” the ‘African Giant’ crooner sings.
Following the release of “Like to Party” in 2012, Burna Boy became well-known and has since asserted his dominance over the Nigerian music scene.
After winning a Grammy, he declared himself the “blueprint” of the Nigerian music industry, which caused controversy years ago.
His colleague Davido has previously asserted himself as the head of Afrobeats.
In his fourth studio album, “Timeless,” he declared himself the godfather of Nigerian music on the song “Godfather.”
Terry G, a well-known musician from Nigeria, reaffirmed earlier this month that Burna Boy is presently the country’s top performer.
