A helicopter carrying Iranian President Raisi experienced a “hard landing” in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province.
The incident occurred near Jolfa, close to the Azerbaijan border.
A Mi-171 helicopter carrying the Iranian President and Foreign Minister made an emergency “hard landing” due to heavy fog.
It was learned that the delegation was on an official visit.
The helicopter landed about 600 km from Tehran, accompanied by 2 others that landed safely.
Search and rescue teams are allegedly trying to locate the helicopter carrying President Raisi, which went down near the Sangun copper mine.
A reporter on site noted that the fog is extremely thick, reducing visibility to less than 5 meters, and heavy rain complicates the search in the mountainous and forested region.
Iran’s Interior Minister stated that rescue crews have not yet reached the crash site, contrary to earlier reports from IRNA.
