I Understand Your Pain Since Subsidy Removal, But There’s No Other Way – Tinubu To Nigerians

In a nationwide broadcast on Monday, President Bola Tinubu acknowledged the hardships that Nigerians have endured since the removal of the petrol subsidy.

He emphasized that there was no other viable option to save the economy but to eliminate the subsidy on petrol.

The decision to remove the petrol subsidy was initially announced in President Tinubu’s inaugural speech on May 29.

However, it has resulted in an increase in the pump price of petrol and a rise in the overall cost of living in the country.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) voiced its disapproval, describing some of the administration’s policies as “anti-poor” and “insensitive.” The NLC gave the federal government a seven-day ultimatum to reverse these policies.

President Tinubu acknowledged the economic challenges currently faced by the nation and attributed them to the petrol subsidy removal.

He assured Nigerians that if there were alternative ways to address the economic issues, he would have taken them. His intention is to assist, not hurt the people and the nation he loves.

Promising to reduce the burden imposed by the current economic situation, President Tinubu empathized with the people and recognized the difficulties they are enduring.

He mentioned that the cost of fuel has risen, leading to a domino effect on food and other prices. This has created financial struggles for households and businesses, making the situation appear anxious and uncertain.

President Tinubu reassured the public that he would do his best to alleviate the economic strain on all Nigerians, particularly on businesses, the working class, and the most vulnerable members of society.
