In response to a disturbing viral video depicting a group of police officers crushing a man with their patrol bus in Ekpoma, Edo state, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, expressed his shock and condemned the incident. While the exact date of the incident remains uncertain, the footage captures the victim with his hands and legs bound, lying on the ground.
The video further reveals that residents of the area were confronting the officers when the driver of the patrol bus maneuvered and unintentionally drove over the victim. The driver eventually ceased driving when alerted by the repeated shouts from the onlookers, emphasizing that the man was trapped beneath the vehicle.
Expressing his dismay, Adejobi described the actions of the police officers involved as completely uncharacteristic of the force. He expressed disbelief that any normal human being could perpetrate such a heinous act, stating, “This is unpolice. I don’t think a normal human being can do this. To crush a man with a car? This is unbelievable.”
In response to the video’s circulation, Adejobi assured the public that he had personally contacted the Commissioner of Police in Edo state regarding the matter. He emphasized the urgent need for appropriate action to be taken, acknowledging that such conduct was deeply troubling and inexplicable to him as an individual.
