A shocking incident captured on a viral video has brought the actions of a Nigerian police officer into question.
In the footage, which has been circulating online, an officer of the Nigerian police force can be seen intentionally climbing on top of an unidentified man using a Toyota Sienna vehicle.
The distressing incident took place in Ekpoma, Edo State, as depicted in the video. As the video unfolds, horrified onlookers can be heard shouting and attempting to rescue the man from the imminent danger of being crushed to death by the police vehicle. To everyone’s astonishment, the police officer opens the door of the car and swiftly flees the scene, leaving the man behind.
The incident came to light after Harrison Gwamnishu, an activist, shared the details on Facebook. Gwamnishu expressed his dismay over the incident, emphasizing that such behavior does not align with proper policing standards. He urged the Nigeria Police Force to promptly address the matter by launching an investigation into this alarming incident.
Gwamnishu’s Facebook post read: “Police Toyota Sienna climbed a young man yesterday in Ekpoma, Edo State 😭😭😭. The police driver jumped down and ran away. This is not policing, and it’s expected that the Nigeria Police Force attends to this immediately by investigating this abnormality. Please Complaint Response Unit – CRU, Nigeria Police Force. NOTE: Please stop arguing with men in uniform; your safety should come first 🙏🙏.”
The viral video has sparked outrage among social media users and the public, with many demanding justice for the victim and expressing concerns about the conduct of law enforcement officers. The Nigeria Police Force is now under increasing pressure to take swift and appropriate action in response to this disturbing incident.
