How 80-Year-Old Woman Was R@ped and K!lled on Her Farm in Ondo By Suspected Herdsmen

According to reports, the elderly woman had gone missing after heading to her farm, and her lifeless body was discovered a few days later. She had been brutally raped and stripped naked by her attackers.

The local community expressed bewilderment over the motive behind targeting an octogenarian, speculating that she may have recognized her assailants, leading to her tragic demise.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of women in the area, as similar cases of women being raped on their farms by suspected hoodlums have been reported before.

Fear has prevented women from venturing to their farms alone, posing a threat to their livelihoods. Community members have called upon the state government and security agencies, urging them to take action.

They have specifically requested the intervention of the state security outfit known as Amotekun, appealing to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to deploy security forces to protect the community.

In a significant development, a suspect has been apprehended in relation to the crime. The suspect, a palm wine tapper, was detained by local youths who discovered the victim’s phone in his possession.

Following his arrest, the suspect led the youths to the location where the elderly woman’s lifeless body was found. He claimed that the murder had been carried out by some herdsmen.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson for the state police command, Funmi Odunlami, stated that the incident was being treated as a case of rape and murder.
