Gündoğan Chooses Barça’s Dream Over Manchester City’s Cash – Barcelona President Laporta

Barça President Joan Laporta has made several significant statements regarding transfers and player priorities for FC Barcelona.

In an interview with OnzeTv3, Laporta revealed that midfielder İlkay Gündoğan has chosen to join Barcelona over a more lucrative financial offer from Manchester City.

Laporta stated, “He told me about his dream to play for Barcelona.” This decision by Gündoğan highlights his desire to be a part of the prestigious Catalan club.

However, Laporta also confirmed that Inter Milan’s midfielder Marcelo Brozović will not be joining Barcelona, despite previous speculations.

Laporta explained, “Brozović, Zubimendi, and Kimmich are too expensive, and these deals are not happening due to the financial package required.” It seems that Barcelona’s current financial situation prevents them from pursuing these high-profile transfers.

On a more positive note, discussions are ongoing for a potential deal with Brazilian midfielder Vitor Roque. Laporta revealed, “We are working on this deal, talks are underway.” Vitor Roque remains a top priority for Barcelona, with a verbal agreement already in place, pending the resolution of tax and commission matters.

Regarding Brozović, Laporta mentioned that the player has received an offer from the Saudi League, and Barcelona will not enter into a bidding war with that league. Laporta stated, “We will not compete with that offer.” This suggests that Barcelona will not match the financial terms of the Saudi League’s proposal.

Laporta also reflected on the decision not to sell Frenkie de Jong last year. He revealed, “Last year we had a €100 million offer for Frenkie de Jong… and we did well not selling him.” This indicates the club’s belief in de Jong’s talent and importance to the team.

In conclusion, President Joan Laporta emphasized that certain players are not for sale, stating, “There are players who should not be on the market.” This statement suggests that Barcelona has identified key individuals they consider integral to the club’s future and are unwilling to entertain offers for their services.
