Babagana Zulum, the Borno State Governor, on Saturday paid a visit to the National Youth Service Corps orientation camp in Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno state.
During his visit, as the camp reopened after 13 years due to Boko haram insurgency, the Governor announced the donation of N36.4 million as palliatives to the 1,215 youth corps members deployed to the state for their national service.
Freshreporters media noted that of them is to receive N30,000.
It could be recalled that freshreporters media had on Wednesday disclosed how the orientation course kicked start in Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno state after 13 years the exercise was suspended in 2011 due to Boko Haram insurgency.
The Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 corps members comprising of 629 males and 496 females on Tuesday were sworn in at an Arabic Teacher’s College used temporarily as an orientation camp in the state capital.
The military disclosed this on Wednesday in a post shared on the agency’s X app (formerly Twitter) handle, where the agency captioned the photos,
“The NYSC Orientation Camp has reopened in Maiduguri, Borno state on Tuesday 22 August 2023 after 13 years it was suspended due to the insurgency.
“The resumption of camp orientation activity signifies that peace has returned to the state as gallant troops of OPERATION HADIN KAI (OPHK) have continued to record successes in the ongoing Counter Insurgency and Counter Terrorism operations in the Northeastern states of Nigeria.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
