Governor Adeleke Storms Out Of Eid Prayer Ground In Clash Over Sitting Arrangement (Video)

Tension arose at the Osogbo Eid prayer ground earlier today as Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke abruptly left the premises in a fit of anger following a clash over sitting arrangements with former Senate spokesperson Ajibola Basiru.

According to reports, Basiru arrived at the prayer ground accompanied by Asiwaju of Osogbo, Chief Tunde Badmus, and other prominent individuals from the city to participate in the two rakat congregational prayer. Basiru initially took a seat in the reserved front row, but a protocol officer approached him, explaining that it was reserved for the Governor.

In an attempt to comply, Basiru moved to another front row seat. However, the protocol officer persisted, insisting that he vacate the area. The situation escalated when Governor Adeleke arrived at the scene and Chief Badmus, who had welcomed him at the gate, left his seat to greet the Governor.

As the Governor made his way to the front row, the protocol officer insisted that Basiru be removed, triggering an uproar among some locals who believed Basiru deserved to sit in that section as one of their prominent sons.

Witnesses noted that Governor Adeleke, visibly agitated, left the prayer ground and returned to his car. After a brief absence, he reappeared, only to find Basiru still seated in the front row. Expressing his dissatisfaction, the Governor left the premises without participating in the prayer.

Shortly after Adeleke’s departure, police officers arrived at the scene and closed the gate, allegedly intending to arrest Basiru on the government’s orders. However, worshippers vehemently resisted and forced the gate open. Basiru, along with other notable individuals from Osogbo, proceeded to observe the Turakat prayer before leaving the premises.

Efforts to obtain reactions from both Ajibola Basiru and Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, were unsuccessful, as they did not respond to calls or messages at the time of filing this report.
