Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State is set to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was disclosed by the governor’s Political Adviser, Istifanus Nwansat, during an interview with journalists in Abuja on Monday.
Nwansat cited the persistent internal crisis within the PDP as the primary reason for the defection, describing it as a necessary move with the “least political risk.”
He further explained that the move aligns the state with President Bola Tinubu’s national agenda. “After careful assessment of all available options, we concluded that the safest course for us, with the least risk, is to join the APC,” Nwansat stated. He added that the governor had previously acknowledged being under pressure to join the ruling party.
