Legal representatives of popular gospel singer Mercy Chinwo have addressed the ongoing controversy and relationship with former manager, Ezekiel ThankGod, also known as Eezeetee.
The statement seeks to clear up misconceptions, stating that Mercy Chinwo has not filed any legal action against Eezeetee over here music catalog.
The lawyers further emphasised that the singer has never contested the 50/50 revenue split of her Digital Service Provider (DSP) earnings, as has been suggested in recent media reports.
The real issues, according to the statement, began when Eezeetee started making demands for Mercy Chinwo to extend her five-year contract to twelve years.
After she declined, Eezeetee allegedly became hostile, making references to the contract and using threatening language.
This was made known via a statement by Pelumi Olajengbesi Esq., Solicitors and Attorneys-at-Law to Minister Mercy Chinwo.
The statement partly reads:
“We are Solicitors to Minister Mercy Chinwo, hereinafter referred to as Minister Mercy.
It is with deep concern that we address the recent controversies surrounding Minister Mercy’s relationship with Mr. Ezekiel ThankGod (Eezeetee), her former manager. While we would have preferred to maintain silence on this matter, the severity of the falsehoods being circulated compels us to clarify the facts and set the record straight.
“Contrary to the sensational narratives, Minister Mercy did not initiate any court action case against Mr. Ezekiel ThankGod (Eezeetee) regarding her music catalogue. At no point has she claimed that a 50/50 revenue split from her DSP earnings is unfair. The issues with Mr. Eezeetee are, in fact, grave matters that have posed significant threats to her life and cannot be easily exhausted, but she has preferred to remain silent.”
The statement accused Chinwo’s former manager, Ezekiel ThankGod (Eezeetee), of forging a contract in 2019 by altering the date to make it appear as if it was the original agreement from 2017.
The statement further revealed that despite multiple efforts to resolve the issue amicably, Eezeetee chose to escalate the matter by taking legal action.
According to the lawyers, he filed lawsuits against Mercy Chinwo and fellow artist Judikay, both of whom were under his management. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
