The Nigerian telecom firms, Glo, MTN, Airtel, and 9Mobile, are requesting that the Federal Government encourage productive dialogue within the sector.
The telecoms claim that the existing price control system is out of step with the reality of the economy and are thus calling for government involvement to solve pricing issues.
The four telecom behemoths said they were the only ones who had not examined their rates, endangering the viability of the sector and perhaps undermining investor confidence.
The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) and the Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) said this in a jointly statement released on Thursday.
According to the statement signed by ALTON Chairman, and ATCON President, they attributed the non-increment to regulatory constraints despite the adverse economic hardship. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
