Four Nigerians Nabbed In India For ‘Herbal Oil’ scam

The Cybercrime Wing of the Indian police has busted a ‘herbal oil’ scam by nabbing four Nigerians who operated from an apartment in a small rented room in Khargar, Navi Mumbai of India.

The identified four Nigerian suspects includes; Okorie Godswill Chinaza, of 32; Uche John Imeka, 47; Godwin Emmanuel, 32; and Eposie Uchenna Stanley, 32; were nabbed and brought to Chennai on Thursday for cheating Chennai-based businessman.

Reports gathered reveal that the police sprung into action following a complaint from a popular businessman named Vijayaraghavan, who said he was contacted by a Canada-based company.

He noted that he placed a big order for herbal oil and transferred 34 lahks for the product that was meant to be exported to Canada but he didn’t receive the herbal oil which eventually led to the complaint.

Vinoth Kumar who is the cybercrime wing inspector, said, “The victim purchased 18 litres of oil for 33.3lakh but didn’t receive the consignment, which prompted him to lodge a complaint at the cybercrime wing after realising that he has been duped.”

The wing inspector Further stated that the suspects targeted businessmen involved in import and export trades.
