Former Church Member Accuses Pastor Chris Okafor of Rápe, Fathering Child, and Later Assàulting Their Daughter

A 36-year-old former church member has made devastating allegations against Lagos-based cleric Pastor Chris Okafor, accusing him of a multi-decade pattern of sexual abuse. In a detailed interview, she states she was raped by the pastor at the age of 15, that he is the father of the child born from that assault, and that years later he sexually assaulted their daughter when she was approximately 14 years old.

The accuser, who identifies herself as Ama, alleges the initial rape occurred in late 2004 at Okafor’s residence after she delivered an offering. She describes being locked in a bedroom, overpowered, and left bleeding on the floor. Immediately after the assault, she claims Okafor showed her a handwritten note stating, “Amarachi, you are my wife, says the Holy Spirit,” and threatened her into silence.

Ama became pregnant and refused Okafor’s alleged pressure to have an abortion. Years later, under family pressure due to the pastor’s wealth, she allowed their daughter, Precious, to live with him. This arrangement allegedly broke down with Ama being denied access and the child reporting neglect and feeling unwanted in the home.

The most serious allegation emerged when the daughter, Precious, confided in her mother that Okafor had sexually assaulted her multiple times around 2019-2020 when she was about 14. Fearing psychological harm and focused on the child’s safety during her final school exams, Ama says she quietly removed her daughter from the pastor’s home. These allegations come amid separate, ongoing police investigations into other sexual misconduct claims against the cleric, who has previously surrendered to authorities for questioning.
