Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central senatorial representative, has advised President Bola Tinubu to step up their economic reform efforts in order to prevent potential protests from dissatisfied Nigerians.
The former federal legislator commented on the spontaneous nature of this type of demonstration, noting that it differs from those organized by the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress in that no prior announcement is made.
FRESHREPORTERS NEWS reported earlier that the Labor Union’s demonstration has been deemed unnecessary by the federal government. Additionally, President Tinubu encouraged union members to delay joining the electoral process until 2027.
In response, the NLC retaliated against the president’s remarks by stressing that his focus should be on addressing the debilitating impact of hunger, unemployment and inflation on the economy instead of being preoccupied with potential risks to his position.
After the NLC and federal government conflict, Sani expressed his opinions on X account following the cancellation of their two-day warning strike.
Sani highlighted that the protests that should be truly feared are not those announced by organized labor or civil society organizations. Rather, they are carried out by individuals who have nothing to lose such as the unemployed, hungry and homeless in a state of desperation.
He wrote, “The most dreadful protests are not the controlled ones organised by the Labour Unions, the organised civil society or the opposition parties.”
“The protests this country should work hard to avert are the organic ones led by the hungry, the homeless, the unemployed, the downtrodden, and the dregs of the streets; this kind of protest doesn’t come with notice of date of commencement or date of suspension, this protest is the kind led by people who have nothing to lose but their shackles; this is the kind of protest the Government and nation must avoid.”..[CONTINUE READING HERE]>>
