First Lady Oluremi Tinubu empowers 500 women in Oyo state

The Nigeria First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered 500 women across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The beneficiaries received deep-chest freezers, maxi gas cookers with ovens, generators, and industrial grinding machines to support new or existing businesses.

Speaking at the Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, where she was represented by the Governor’s wife, Tamunominini Makinde, the First Lady said the initiative recognises the vital role women play in nation-building.

She added that the programme aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises inclusivity, economic growth, and sustainable development with a strong focus on women’s empowerment.

She further stressed that empowering women is central to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), both of which underpin the essence of the programme.
