- The Federal Government has directed the closure of roads around the Federal Secretariat Complexes and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja from May 26 to May 29.

- Tinubu, accompanied by Senator Kashim Shettima, will be inaugurated as President and Vice-President on May 29, succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari.
FRESHREPORTERS gathered that, the Federal Government has issued an order to close major roads surrounding the Federal Secretariat Complexes of Phase I, II, and III, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja. The closures will be in effect from 2 pm on Friday, May 26, until Monday, May 29.
Dr Ngozi Onwudiwe, the Permanent Secretary of the Service Welfare Office, Office of the Head of the Service of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), announced the road closures in a circular released on Friday.
The closure of these roads is part of the comprehensive security measures implemented by the Presidential Transition Council (PTC) in preparation for the official swearing-in ceremony of President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which will take place on May 29.
The PTC aims to ensure the safety and smooth execution of the inauguration event.
The circular stated that access to the affected areas will be restricted during the designated closure period, and officers and visitors will only be permitted entry starting Tuesday, May 30, when normal work activities are set to resume.
On May 29, 2023, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will assume the role of President of Nigeria, succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari, who served as the country’s leader for eight years.
Alongside Tinubu, Senator Kashim Shettima will also be sworn in as the Vice-President.
