Furthermore, the list encompasses six operators of Bureau De Change (BDC).
Earlier disclosures from the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) indicated that the financiers of terrorism include nine persons and six BDC operators.
In the report titled ‘Identification of Persons and Organizations as of March 18, 2024’, the NFIU outlined that the Nigeria Sanctions Committee met on March 18, 2024, identifying specific individuals and entities for sanctions owing to their involvement in funding terrorism.
Following this, a statement shared on X platform on Monday by former President Muhammadu Buhari’s Media Aide, Bashir Ahmad, stated: “The national administration has divulged the identities of individuals and BDCs financing terrorist activities in Nigeria. It is expected that these individuals will be subject to appropriate legal repercussions for their deeds.
The listed individuals are:
- Tukur Mamu
- Yusuf Ghazali
- Muhammad Sani
- Abubakar Muhammad
- Sallamudeen Hassan
- Adamu Ishak
- Hassana-Oyiza Isah
- Abdulkareem Musa
- Umar Abdullahi
The six BDCs and companies are:
- West and East Africa General Trading Company Limited
- Settings Bureau De Change Ltd
- G. Side General Enterprises
- Desert Exchange Ventures Limited
- Eagle Square General Trading Company Limited
