FG Clarifies Status Of NDLEA, NAFDAC Boards Following Presidential Dissolution

In response to recent developments, the federal government has issued a clarification regarding the status of the boards of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

Contrary to earlier speculations, these boards were not dissolved by President Bola Tinubu on Monday, as confirmed by Willie Bassey, the director of information at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

Amidst the confusion surrounding the dissolution of several boards by President Tinubu, Bassey’s statement on Tuesday aimed to provide clarity on the matter.

The NDLEA and NAFDAC boards, responsible for crucial tasks related to drug law enforcement and food and drug regulation, respectively, have been confirmed to remain intact.

The federal government’s clarification comes as a relief to stakeholders and employees within both agencies. The NDLEA, responsible for combating illicit drug trafficking and abuse in Nigeria, plays a pivotal role in safeguarding public health and security. NAFDAC, on the other hand, ensures the safety, efficacy, and quality of food, drugs, and other related products in the country.
