The Nigeria federal government is set to subsidies the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle conversion kit by 50 percent to convert one million vehicles from premium motor spirit (PMS) to CNG by 2027, Freshreporters Media had gathered.
This was conveyed in a statement issued out by the Presidential Committee on CNG during a northern stakeholders’ engagement in Kaduna, seen on Thursday, 13th of June, 2024.
The leader of the committee, Micheal Oluwagbemi, said:
“We have about 20,000 kits that we are making available immediately and we’re launching what we call the conversion incentive program with members of the NURTW, RTEAN and NATO being our immediate focus.
“Of course, these are operators in the road transport sector who provide about 90% of the transportation in Nigeria today to members of the public.
“And we’re making kits available to them at 50% discount and we’re also ensuring that their installation cost is free. We are already negotiating with our partners, eight of which are going to initiate the program in the next week.
“We’ve already identified those eight conversion centres in four states. That will be the pilot state and then immediately after 2-3 weeks, we’ll start expanding to other conversion centres that we’ve identified and we have over 120 across the country.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
