Funsho Adegboye, the Edo State Police Commissioner, has stressed on the importance of adhering to rules in politics, urging all parties to maintain a fair and peaceful electoral process.
The Edo CP warned against inciting violence, stressing that all politicians and supporters should refrain from making statements that could escalate tensions unnecessarily.
This is coming after the nab of the deputy director-general of media to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship campaign council, Reverend Olu Martins, over alleged provoking and inciting statements.
The commissioner’s emphasis on the command’s impartiality and non-alignment with any political parties was seen in a video shared on X page by AIT, on Thursday, 13th of June, 2024
He said:
“I’ve been saying this, everybody should please play the game according to the rules.
“Electioneering is supposed to be something glamorous, interesting, something that would encourage our well-educated, and young would-be politicians. Not the type that would create tension in the land.
“Especially as the elections are approaching, there’ll not be any sacred cow, no matter the political party, no matter how highly placed, we are for all.
“And once again, I want to warn our political actors to please play the game in accordance with the laid rules.
“Inciting violence is a serious crime in the criminal codes and also in the electoral acts.
