In an effort to reduce financial pressure on families, the Federal Government has implemented new regulations that significantly limit school graduation ceremonies.
Under the new policy, official graduation events will only be permitted for students completing key transition points: Primary 6, Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS3), and Senior Secondary School 3 (SSS3). This directive puts an end to the common practice of holding graduation ceremonies for pupils in every grade or lower classes.
The measure is part of wider education reforms aimed at cutting unnecessary expenses. The government’s goal is to alleviate the financial burden on parents and refocus graduation events on their original purpose marking major academic milestones rather than allowing them to become frequent, fee-driven activities in schools.
