Federal Government Activates CCTV Surveillance Center on Lagos’s Third Mainland Bridge

The Federal Government has commissioned a high-tech Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) monitoring center on Lagos’s Third Mainland Bridge, aimed at improving safety and security on the vital thoroughfare.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, stated the project is part of President Bola Tinubu’s directive to rehabilitate and secure major federal bridges across the country. The new facility is equipped with high-definition CCTV cameras that monitor both the bridge deck and its underwater sections.

To support its operations, the center also has a dedicated surveillance boat and two Hilux vehicles for rapid response. According to Umahi, the surveillance system will be instrumental in controlling speeding, preventing traffic blockages, curbing vehicle fires, and deterring suicide attempts on the bridge.
