The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has launched an investigation into incidents that occurred following Nigeria’s 2–0 victory over Algeria in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarter-finals.
In a statement, CAF said it made the decision after reviewing official match reports and available video evidence. It stated that certain actions observed after the final whistle were “unacceptable and in breach of its regulations.”
The scope of the probe will also include subsequent incidents involving members of the media, particularly reports concerning Moroccan and Algerian journalists in the aftermath of the match. CAF confirmed it will provide further updates once the investigation is concluded.
