Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has called for the immediate demolition of illegal buildings at Sabon Lugbe South District Layout.
He made the announcement on Tuesday during a surprise visit to the site, with top security officials tagging along. Wike wasn’t mincing words—he said flat-out that any structures lacking proper paperwork from the FCT Administration are going down. “You can see they are all land grabbers without documents, and we are not going to allow that,” he said.
According to Wike, the developers threw up these buildings without getting approval from the Development Control Department, breaking the FCT’s land-use rules. That didn’t sit well with him at all.
The Minister wasted no time giving orders to the Director of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, instructing him to team up with security agencies to clear out the illegal structures and reclaim the land.
