A single-engine aircraft crashed on Monday night while attempting an emergency landing in Nashville, Tennessee, killing multiple passengers.
At roughly 7:40 p.m. ET on Monday, Don Aaron, the public affairs director for the Nashville Metropolitan Police, said that a pilot had messaged the control tower at Nashville’s John Tune airport stating that their aircraft was having engine and power failure and needed permission to land.
Permission was given by the tower, but as the plane approached the airport, the pilot informed Aaron that it would not make it.
According to the official, witnesses informed authorities that the plane was in distress as it passed over the freeway.
According to him, the aircraft went down behind a Costco, not far from the Interstate 40 eastbound lanes.
The jet disintegrated on impact, according to a Nashville Fire Department official. The FD representative stated that the “impact was catastrophic and did not leave any survivors.”
When the fire brigade arrived on the site, they encountered intense flames, but they managed to put it out and save the evidence.
According to Aaron, an investigation into the incident is underway by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
To ascertain the plane’s origin, local and federal authorities are collaborating. Additionally, authorities still don’t know who was on board. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
