Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan’s Prison Sentence has been Extended to fourteen years on Wednesday.
His wife, Bushra Bibi, has also been sentenced to 14 years in prison.
They were found guilty of graft in a case involving gifts he received while premier.
The hearing was presided over by Accountability Judge Muhammad Bashir at the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where the former PM is being held.
Each also received a punishment of Rs. 787 million and a 10-year ban from holding any public office.
The judgement was however, delivered in the absence of his wife Bushra Bibi.
The verdict comes eight days before the February 8 general elections, which the PTI is contesting amid a state crackdown and without an electoral symbol.
It also comes just a day after a special court established under the Official Secrets Act sentenced Imran and his foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to 10 years in prison for the breach of state secrets. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
