EFCC Releases 7 Army, NAF Personnel After Agitations Over Alleged Internet Fraud

The EFCC, which is responsible, for tackling financial crimes has recently released a member of the Nigerian Army and seven individuals from the Nigerian Air Force who were allegedly involved in internet-related fraud.

These suspects were apprehended by the Kaduna State office of the corruption agency on Monday and were then held in custody for further investigation and potential prosecution.

However, on Friday morning there was a turn of events when armed soldiers from the Nigerian Air Force stormed the EFCC office situated at Number 4 Wurno Road in the state capital. Their objective was to secure the release of their detained colleagues.

Arriving at around 10 am in five Hilux patrol vans these soldiers surrounded the gate of the commission effectively preventing any entry or exit, by EFCC officials.

There was a big argument between the Air Force people and security officers from EFCC. They were shouting and threatening each other with guns.

Later, the EFCC leader and the Air Force leader talked and calmed things down. They then let the suspects go.

The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said on the phone to Channels Television that they released the suspects after finishing their investigation.
