The Chairman of Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has strongly denied any involvement in corrupt activities during his public service career. In a television interview, he declared, “I have never been involved in any fraudulent activity all through my service in the public sector,” and challenged anyone to prove otherwise.
Reflecting on his previous roles, Olukoyede stated that as a chief of staff, no Nigerian could claim he accepted even “a bottle of coke” to influence his judgment. Regarding his tenure as a secretary, he asserted that no assets could be traced to him or his family, and that he never collected any money in performing his duties.
When humorously questioned if he considered himself a “rich man,” Olukoyede indicated he did not understand the term, clarifying that he does not share any assets with family members. He concluded by reiterating his commitment to integrity and accountability, telling Nigerians that his record in both senior positions is clean and open to scrutiny.
