Don Jazzy Unveils $4 Million Investment Behind Rema’s Global Hit ‘Calm Down’

Don Jazzy, the founder of Mavin Records, has revealed that an investment of between $4 and $5 million was made to boost the global success of Rema’s chart-topping single ‘Calm Down.’

Originally released in 2022 on Rema’s debut album Rave and Roses, the track gained significant popularity in Nigeria before its 2023 remix featuring Selena Gomez skyrocketed it to No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart. The song has since amassed over one billion streams in the U.S. and billions more worldwide, marking a historic achievement in the Afrobeats genre.

During a recent podcast, Don Jazzy elaborated that the substantial investment encompassed various aspects, including international marketing, radio placements, promotions, and a lengthy campaign that helped transform the song from a local hit to a global sensation.

He further noted that this investment continues to yield returns through Rema’s successful tours, including significant earnings from performances in the U.S., as well as the long-term benefits of the breakout single.
