The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, has paid a visit to Kwara State to commiserate with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over recent security challenges and to launch a new joint military operation aimed at curbing criminal activities in the state.
During the visit, the Defence Chief extended condolences to the governor and residents over lives lost to insecurity, reaffirming the armed forces’ commitment to supporting the state in restoring peace.
General Oluyede announced the establishment of a joint task force, codenamed Operation Savannah Shield, designed to strengthen security across Kwara. The operation will bring together personnel from the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force under a unified command structure.
He noted that the coordinated, multi-agency approach is expected to curtail the activities of criminal elements and reinforce ongoing security efforts in the state.
The Defence Chief expressed confidence that sustained collaboration between the military and the state government would enhance safety and protect lives and property.
