Dangote Refinery to Launch May 22, Refining 103.34m Litres Every Day

• Dangote Group has announced that the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Refinery will be launched on May 22, 2023.

• The refinery, located in Lagos, is expected to address Nigeria’s perennial refining problems and boost its locally refined capacity by 103.34 million litres per day.

• The refinery has completed construction, and pre-inauguration tests are currently ongoing.

The Dangote Group has announced that the world’s largest single-train refinery, the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Refinery, will be launched on May 22, 2023.

The refinery, located in the Lekki Free Zone area of Lagos State, is expected to address Nigeria’s perennial refining problems and boost its locally refined capacity by 103.34 million litres per day.

The Dangote Refinery complex covers a land area of approximately 2,635 hectares, which is larger than the size of Victoria Island in Lagos.

The refinery’s pipeline infrastructure is the largest anywhere in the world, with 1,100 kilometers to handle three billion Standard Cubic Feet per day (Scf/d) of gas due to the large capacity of the refinery.

It also has a 435MW-capacity power plant that is able to meet the total power requirement of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC). The refinery has completed construction, and pre-inauguration tests are currently ongoing.
