An Ikeja Chief Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, remanded one 27-year-old street urchin, Adebayo Agboola, in Kirikiri Correctional Centre of Lagos State for allegedly defiling a nine-month-old neighbour’s baby.
Agboola, who resides in the Ijora-Bada (shanti) area of Lagos State, was charged with defilement, an offence which contravened the provisions of Sections 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
During court proceedings, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, the prosecution counsel, told the court that the offence was committed on 23rd of March 2023 in White Sand area, Ijora – Bada , Lagos State.
He said, “The baby’s mother, 16, kept her child in the care of Agboola to buy noodles not too far from her home.”
However, Chief Magistrate Kubeinje ordered the prosecutor to send the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
The judge further adjourned the case till 5th of May, 2023.
