British media sources claim that Chelsea is in discussions to appoint 44-year-old Enzo Maresca of Leicester as their new head coach.
The Italian, who served as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at English champion Manchester City until last year, has guided the Foxes’ instant return to the Premier League after their relegation a year ago.
Chelsea officials are reportedly intrigued by his style of play as well. On Monday, Sky Sports reported that Chelsea had requested permission from Leicester to talk with Maresca directly, adding that Maresca was the London club’s first pick.
Chelsea is looking for a new manager following Mauricio Pochettino’s departure.
He spent just one season in charge at Stamford Bridge, with Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Kieran McKenna, who led Ipswich to top-flight promotion behind Leicester, also linked with the vacancy. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
