Akah Nnani, the popular Nollywood actor, has on Wednesday 1st of June, 2022 connoted that the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN Lagos State Branch shouldn’t have disclosed the N100Million ransom paid to kidnappers to secure the release Samuel Kanu-Uche, of the Methodist Church.
Bishop Stephen Adegbite of the CAN Lagos branch, taking to the public disclosed the payment of the ransom at a press conference in Yaba, Lagos on Tuesday 31st of June, 2022.
The nollywood actor Reacting to the video shared on Instagram handle stated, “Good. So you have just told kidnappers that this is good business. Well done.”
Clarifying the point raised, Actor Nnani stated, “I’m talking about CAN being comfortable sharing this news. Not everything should be public consumption. I don’t think it’s a good thing to negotiate with kidnappers. Our state of security is so horrible.
“So if it comes to that, keep quiet so as not to encourage more incidences. They shouldn’t have shared. Plus this is CAN. But if it were a poor Christian they will say pray. Prelate now, they paid 100m.”
Bishop Stephen was kidnapped on Sunday evening by kidnappers alongside the Methodist Bishop of Owerri, Imo state, Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark, and his (the Prelate’s) chaplain.
