A 62-year-old businessman from Lagos, Nwabueze Nicholas Izueke, was intercepted at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) on January 31, 2026, while attempting to smuggle 95 large wraps of cocaine concealed in his stomach.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) disclosed the arrest in a statement by its spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday, February 8.
Izueke was booked on a flight to China via Addis Ababa when a body scanner detected the concealed drugs. Under close monitoring, he subsequently expelled the pellets in seven stages during observation.
Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed that his motive for drug trafficking was to fund the completion of his personal mansion in his hometown of Iwollo, Enugu State.
