Bose Ogulu, the mother and manager of the Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy, revealed during an interview with BBC’s Nyasha Michelle that she had a strong belief, dating back to his teenage years, that he had the potential for greatness.
She foresaw him becoming a prominent figure in the music industry.
She remarked, “I think I had already sensed his greatness when he was around 13 or 14, and it seemed clear to me that his path would lead to music. “
“I had already witnessed him spending time in the studio, and I had seen him forming a high school band.”
She further explained, “Starting from his time in JSS3, which I believe corresponds to Year 9, we began to trade studio time for good grades.”
“I would tell him, ‘If you achieve a B or an A in this subject, I’ll cover the cost of studio time during your mid-term.”
In related news, Burna Boy, the Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, recently shared his source of inspiration during a period of musical fatigue.
He revealed in an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra that the late Indian rapper, Sidhu Moose Wala, served as his muse when he was feeling creatively drained.
Burna Boy disclosed, “I was feeling musically exhausted, and I was searching for something fresh.”
