Qatar became the first team since Japan in 2004 to retain their Asian Cup crown, with tournament top goalscorer Akram Afif scoring three times from the penalty spot to defeat Jordan.
Qatar took the lead midway through the first half, with Afif scoring the first of his three penalties. Yazan Al Naimat, who has had a superb tournament, levelled in the second half, with an emphatic finish.
However, Qatar replied just over five minutes later, with another penalty.
Jordan searched for an equaliser in added time, but the game was well and truly wrapped up with Afif scoring his eighth goal of the tournament in the 95th minute. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
