The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has declared a nationwide strike starting on the 7th of June, 2023 next Wednesday, following the fuel subsidy removal.
The strike was declared over the removal of fuel subsidy which has led to an outcry across different parts of the nation few days after the new government took over.
Reports gathered revealed that the Labour union declared an emergency National Executive Council Meeting, which made the announcement on Friday, June 2. The meeting was held in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory over the fuel subsidy removal and subsequent hike in the pump price of petrol.
The NEC comprises all Presidents, General Secretaries, Treasurers of all NLC’s affiliate unions; State Chairpersons and Secretaries of the NLC State Councils, Chairperson of the NLC Youth Committee and members of the National Administrative Council (NAC).
