In a glimmer of hope and relief, the abducted students of Zamfara State College of Arts and Sciences (ZACAS) Gusau have finally been freed from captivity after enduring more than six months of harrowing captivity. The students’ ordeal began in January 2023 when they were kidnapped by bandits along Birnin Magaji Kaura Namoda.
During their time in captivity, the abductors of the female students resorted to psychological torment, releasing two separate video clips of the victims crying and pleading for help. The heart-wrenching footage left the nation in shock and drew widespread condemnation.
Tragically, one of the victims suffered the devastating loss of her mother, who tragically passed away due to hypertension after watching the first distressing video clip. The emotional toll on the students and their families during this prolonged abduction cannot be overstated.
However, in a positive turn of events, the authorities successfully secured the release of the students, bringing an end to their long and traumatic ordeal. The news of their freedom was met with widespread joy and celebration, both among their families and the general public.
The specifics of the students’ release, as well as the measures taken to secure their freedom, have not been disclosed by the authorities at this time. Nevertheless, their release represents a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and banditry in Zamfara State and the larger region. (CONTINUE READING HERE)
