Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has effected a minor but significant cabinet reshuffle, announcing the immediate dismissal of two commissioners from his administration.
Those affected include Engr. Emat Kois, Commissioner for Environment, and Hon. Tukur Ibrahim, Commissioner for Intergovernmental and Special Duties.
In a statement issued on Thursday, 31st of July 2025, by his spokesperson Dauda Iliya, the governor thanked the sacked officials for their service and wished them well in future endeavors.
Following their removal, Zulum approved the appointment of Engr. Mohammed Habib as the new Commissioner for Environment and Ibrahim Hala Hassan to oversee the Ministry of Intergovernmental and Special Duties.
The reshuffle also saw the emergence of Professor Yusuf Gana Balami as the new Executive Chairman of the Borno State Secondary Education Board.
Professor Balami, a seasoned academic and education administrator from Hawul Local Government Area, is expected to bring his wealth of experience to reform and strengthen the state’s secondary education system.
The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Borno State House of Assembly. Governor Zulum’s decision underscores his commitment to improving governance and ensuring optimal performance across ministries.
The cabinet adjustment is viewed as a proactive step towards repositioning critical sectors, especially environmental management and education, for better service delivery.
