Families of Boko Haram fighters from Bama who were trying to reunite with their husbands in the Lake Chad region were taken into custody in the Niger Republic.
The families, who were mostly women, were captured while attempting to reunite with their partners following prior attempts.
This incident is part of a series of arrests targeting individuals associated with Boko Haram attempting to reintegrate into areas where the terrorist group operates.
The Nigerien authorities, in collaboration with regional partners, are actively working to prevent the reintegration of individuals with ties to Boko Haram, recognizing the continued threat they pose to regional stability.
