The American President, Joe Biden has mourned the world great footballer, Pele who died on Thursday, 29th of December, 2022.
Pele couldn’t make it to the new year after he was off the grid at the age of 82.
Joe Biden in a statement shared noted the impact of the Brazilian Star has brought into football making him a legend.
He said, “Before there was Messi, Ronaldo, Beckham, there was Pelé. In 1958, he won his first World Cup for Brazil at seventeen – the youngest winner ever. He went on to win another two World Cups in 1962 and 1970, making him the only player in the world today with three World Cup trophies.
For a sport that brings the world together like no other, Pelé’s rise from humble beginnings to soccer legend is a story of what is possible.
Sending condolences to his family, the US president said, “Today, Jill’s and my thoughts are with his family and all those who loved him.”
