“We Are Now Hunted After Standing For Tinubu” – APC Group Raises Alarm Over Attacks On Party Members

A pro-democracy organization, the New Generation Leaders of Bayelsa State, has expressed concern about a series of assaults on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

They’ve called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Inspector General of Police, and security agencies to step in and address the issue.

In a statement released by Apostle Bodmas Kemepadei, the National Coordinator of the group, they strongly condemned a recent attempted attack on the APC gubernatorial candidate, Timipre Sylva, in the Local Government Area by individuals dressed as military personnel.

Kemepadei labeled the ruling party’s actions in the state as a heartless and irrational approach.

He pointed out that instead of seeking votes through democratic means, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had resorted to physically assaulting and mistreating law-abiding APC supporters.

The group issued a warning, stating that they would retaliate against the ruling party if President Tinubu does not take action by instructing security agencies to be vigilant regarding these ongoing attacks on their party members.

The statement emphasized, “As loyal APC supporters in Bayelsa State, we unequivocally denounce the reports of politically motivated individuals, dressed in full military attire, who recently attempted to infiltrate Sylva’s Local Government Area.”

“There have been numerous incidents of harassment, intimidation, and physical attacks on dedicated APC members, and if these actions persist without intervention from Mr. President, we may be compelled to defend ourselves.”

“Such actions are a severe threat to our democratic system, and the sacrifices we’ve made for supporting President Tinubu have made us targets.”

Consequently, we urge the President, the Inspector General of Police, and other security agencies to take swift action and bring the culprits behind these malicious acts to justice before the situation escalates further.

“As a collective, we are closely monitoring the attacks on APC members, recognizing a connection to the party’s increasing popularity and strong support in the state.”
